Setting up Anchor / Tag IDs via using USBTraq and jumpers

Postby cong » Mon Nov 27, 2017 4:40 am

The anchor device IDs can range from 0-7 (max 8 anchors in high speed network). The tag device IDs can range from 0-15 (max 16 tags in high speed network).
The tag device IDs are programmed with USBTraq.
The anchor device IDs are set using jumpers in a binary fashion.
For example:
ID0 - no jumpers
ID1 - 1 jumper on first pin only
ID2 - 1 jumper on second pin only
ID3 - 1 jumper on first pin and 1 jumper on second pin.
ID4 - 1 jumper on third pin.
Labeled anchor IDs are 1 more than the device IDs shown above.
For example, Anchor with device ID0 is labeled at Anchor 1.
The attached pictures show ID0 with no jumpers and ID1 with 1 jumper on first pin.

We can swap the anchor IDs, but we need to make sure that the IDs used are consecutive starting with ID0.
For example, in a 6 anchor system, we should number them with IDs 0,1,2,3,4,5.
The minimum requirements are that the first and last anchor in the series must be turned ON (ID0 and ID5 in this case)
and we have at least 3 anchors turned ON for 2D position and 4 anchors turned ON for 3D position.

We can expand our system to 8 anchors as well to give redundancy. The tags being tracked with use the anchors with the best signals to calculate their position.

As of firmware 3.XX, anchor addresses can also be set using USBTraq-Settings.
Simply change device ID in the upper left corner and then click on Write to Device.
In order for this to work, all physical address jumpers must be removed from the anchor.
